On this day March 7 1985, the iconic song "We Are the World" by USA for Africa was released. It soared to the top spot on the charts in the USA from April 13 to May 10. Additionally, it reached #1 in numerous countries including Canada, UK, France, Italy, Spain, Belgium, Ireland, Norway, Finland, Sweden, Switzerland, Netherlands, Portugal, Australia, New Zealand, and South Africa.

This monumental release also achieved a significant humanitarian feat, raising over $63 million dollars for famine relief in Ethiopia.
