On this day March 17, 1985, Richard Ramirez, also known as "The Night Stalker," perpetrated his initial two murders in Rosemead and Monterey Park, Los Angeles. However, evidence surfaced in 2009 indicating that Ramirez's first murder occurred in San Francisco's Tenderloin area in 1984. He was convicted and sentenced to death in 1989 but passed away on June 7, 2013, at the age of 53 while awaiting execution.
