On this day March 14 1983 Bon Jovi officially formed in Sayreville New Jersey. Led by Jon Bon Jovi the band brought together Richie Sambora David Bryan Alec John Such and Tico Torres to create what would become one of the biggest rock bands of all time.

Bon Jovi quickly gained recognition with their 1984 self-titled debut album but it was their 1986 album Slippery When Wet that made them global superstars with hits like Livin’ on a Prayer and You Give Love a Bad Name. Their blend of hard rock and arena anthems defined 80s rock music.
