On this day May 22, 1985, A View to a Kill premiered in San Fransisco theaters as the fourteenth James Bond film and marked the final appearance of Roger Moore as Agent 007. Directed by John Glen, the film also starred Christopher Walken as the villain Max Zorin, Tanya Roberts as Bond’s ally Stacey Sutton and featured a brief appearance by Dolph Lundgren in his film debut.
With a production budget of 30 million dollars, the movie grossed 152 million dollars worldwide, including 50 million domestic. While opinions on Moore’s age in the role were mixed, the film is remembered for its Eiffel Tower chase, Silicon Valley setting and its title song by Duran Duran which became a massive international hit.
Fun fact: Duran Duran’s theme song for A View to a Kill is the only James Bond theme to reach number one on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart.
