  1. 1980 CNN add it‘s debut.
  2. 1982 The Rolling Stones Still Life (Live) was released. Rickey Henderson with the New York Yankees became the fastest player to steal 50 bases in a season.
  3. 1983 Talking Head’s Speaking in Tongue album was released. The final episode of Tales of the Gold Monkey aired.
  4. 1984 The movies Once Upon a Time in America, Star Trek III: The Search for Spock and Streets of Fire premiered at theaters.
  5. 1985 Sting’s debut album The Dream of the Blue Turtles was released. Rites of Spring’s debut and only album Rites of Spring was released.
  6. 1986 Chris de Burgh‘s Into the Light album was released.
  7. 1988 Kim Wilde‘s Close album was released. The Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces came into effect.
  8. 1989 Sodom’s Agent Orange album was released.

  4. 1987 Whitney Houston‘s Whitney and Gloria Estefan and Miami Sound Machine‘s Let it Loose album’s were released. Ken Griffey Jr. was drafted out of high school #1 overall by the Seattle Mariners.
  5. 1989 Dead Poets Society, No Holds Barred, Renegades and Vampire's Kiss premiered at theaters.

  1. 1980 Darryl Strawberry was the #1 overall pick by the New York Mets.
  2. 1982 George Strait‘s Strait from the Heart album was released.
  3. 1983 America’s Your Move album was released. The Man with Two Brains, Psycho II and War Games movies premiered.
  4. 1985 Larry King Live premiered on CNN. Turkey television premiered on Nickelodeon. Bryan Ferry‘s Boys and Girls and Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds‘ The Firstborn is Dead album were released. BJ Surhoff was the #1 overall pick by the Milwaukee Brewers.
  5. 1987 the Untouchables movie premiered. The final episode of Nothing in Common aired.
  6. 1988 the movie Big and the Funny Farm premiered at theaters.
  7. 1989 Rock On by Michael Damian became the #1 song in the U.S. Scenes from the Class Struggle in Beverly Hills.

  1. 1980 the Kink’s One for the Road live album was released.
  2. 1982 Genesis’ Three Sides 9 album was released.
  3. 1983 the movies Poltergeist, Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan and Hanky Panky premiered at theaters. Motorhead’s Another Perfect Day album was released.
  4. 1984 Bruce Springsteen‘s Born in the USA album was released.
  5. 1986 Barry Bonds hit his first major league home run. Jonathan Pollard plead guilty to espionage in the U.S.
  6. 1988 there were 91 people killed and 1500 injured when a train exploded in Arzamas, Gorky Oblast, USSR.
  7. 1989 McGee and Me! premiered in syndication. The final episode of Day by Day aired. Ali Khamenei was elected the new supreme leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran. The Tiananmen Square Protests were held up in Beijing by the People's Liberation Army. Approximately 575 train passengers died in a gas explosion in Russia.

  1. 1981 The movies Cheech & Chong's Nice Dreams and Tuck Everlasting premiered at theaters. Nolan Ryan became the all time walks leader. The first recognized AIDS case in the U.S. was found in 5 gay men in L.A.
  2. 1982 Heart’s Private Audition album was released.
  3. 1984 Sheila E‘s The Glamorous Life album was released.
  4. 1985 The Chicago Cubs and the Atlanta Braves played a game at Wrigley Field that was featured on the 1986 film, Ferris Bueller's Day Off.
  5. 1986 Alphaville’s Afternoons in Utopia album was released.
  6. 1987 The movies Cyclone and Harry and the Hendersons premiered at theaters.
  7. 1989 Paul McCartney‘s Flowers in the Dirt, Peter Gabriel’s Passion (soundtrack) and Neneh Cherry‘s Raw Like Sushi albums were released. The Toronto Blue Jays played their first game at the new Skydome and they lost to the Milwaukee Brewers.

  1. 1980 The movies Urban Cowboy, Galaxina and Up the Academy premiered in theaters.The final episode of Mag Pie aired in Britain. The S.O.S. band’s S.O.S. and Toya’s The Blue Meani albums were released.
  2. 1981 The Psychedelic Furs‘ Talk Talk Talk and Siouxsie & the Banshees‘ Juju albums were released.
  3. 1982 The Israeli/ Lebanon war began.
  4. 1983 The movie Octopussy premiered in theaters. The show Reading Rainbow premiered on PBS. Crosby, Stills & Nas‘ Allies (live) and Peter Gabriel’s Plays Live (live) albums were release.
  5. 1986 The movies Space Camp, Raw Deal, Invader From Mars and My Little Pony: The Movie (Animation premiered at theaters. The final episode of The Merv Griffin Show aired. Genesis’ Invisible Touch album was released.
  6. 1987 Heart’s Bad Animals album was released. The New York Yankees played their 13,000th game.
  7. 1988 The Moody Blues‘ Sur la Mer and Britny Fox‘s Britny Fox album were released.
  8. 1989 Diana Ross‘s Working Overtime and Stevie Ray Vaughan Double Trouble‘s In Step and Jackson Browne‘s World In Motion albums were released. The New York Mets turned their first triple play in 7 Years against the Chicago Cubs.

  1. 1982 Chicago‘s Chicago 16, Manowar’s Battle Hymns, Stray Cats‘ Built for Speed compilation album and Girl School’s Screaming Blue Murder albums were released. Elvis Presley’s Graceland Mansion in Memphis, Tennessee was opened to the public.
  2. 1985 The Goonies and Perfect premiered at theaters.
  3. 1986 Madonnas’s Live to Tell song became number one in America. The final episode of Star Wars: Droids aired.
  4. 1988 EMPD’s Strictly Business album was released.
  5. 1989 Surinam Airways Flight 764 crashed while approaching Paramaribo-Zanderij International Airport in Suriname killing 176 of the 187 passengers. (Wow the nine that survived were extremely lucky).

  1. 1981 Yoko Ono’s Season of Glass album was released.
  2. 1984 The movies Ghostbusters, Gremlins, Top Secret and Beat Street premiered at theaters. Siouxsie and the Banshees‘ album Hyaena. The hit song Ghostbuster by Ray Parker, Jr. was released. Homosexuality became legal in New South Waless.
  3. 1985 The Style Council’s Our Favorite Shop album was released. Everybody Wants to Rule the World by Tears for Fears became the #1 song in America.
  4. 1987 Boy George’s Sold album was released.
  5. 1988 The final episode of The Slap Maxwell Story aired.
  6. 1989 Stacy Q‘s Nights Like This album was released.

  1. 1983 Rod Stewart‘s Body Wishes, the Kinks State of Confusion and Stevie Nicks the Wild Heart albums were released. Harley Race beat Ric Flair for the NWA Heavyweight Championship.
  2. 1985 The Beach Boys’ The Beach Boys, Scritti Politti‘s Cupid & Psyche 85, Bob Dylan’s Empire Burlesque, R.E.M.’s Fables of the Reconstruction and Talking Heads’ Little Creatures albums were released.
  3. 1986 Candlemass’ Epicus Doomicus Metallicus album was released.
  4. 1988 Poltergeist III, The Presidio and Big Business premiered at theaters.
  5. 1989 Tales from the Crypt premiered on HBO.

  2. 1981 Joe Jackson’s Joe Jackson's Jumpin' Jive album was released.
  3. 1982 E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial and Grease 2 premiered in theaters. REO Speedwagon‘s Good Trouble and Eddie Money‘s No Control albums were released. Larry Holmes (40 - 0) TKO’d Gerry Cooney in the 13th round to retain the WBC Heavyweight Championship.
  4. 1986 Ferris Bueller's Day Off premiered at theaters. Madonna’s single Papa Don’t Preach was #1 in the U.S. Glass Tiger’s The Thin Red Line album was released.

  1. 1981 Raiders of the Lost Ark, Clash of the Titans and History of the World, Part I premiered in theaters. Major League baseball players went on strike. Larry Holmes TKO’d Leon Spinks in the 3rd round to retain the WBC Heavyweight Championship.
  2. 1983 Bonnie Tylor’s Total Eclipse of the Heart was released.
  3. 1985 Megadeth’s Killing Is My Business... and Business Is Good! album was released.
  4. 1987 The Witches of Eastwick, Predator and Million Dollar Mystery premiered in theaters.
  5. 1988 Bolt Thrower’s In Battle There Is No Law album was released.
  6. 1989 Heavy D & the Boyz‘ Big Tyme and Lion’s Trouble in Angel City albums were released.

  4. 1986 Manfred Mann's Earth Band‘s Crimson Tango album was released. The Manhattan Project, Back To School, Mona Lisa and Never too Young to Die premiered in theaters.
  5. 1987 The final episode of Sidekicks Aired. Always by Atlantic Starr became the #1 Song in America

  5. 1987 Michael Jackson and Siedah Garrett‘s single I Just Can’t Stop Loving You single was number one in the U.S.
  6. 1988 The final episode of Eisenhower and Lutz aired. The Style Councils’ Confessions of a Pop Group, Saxon‘s Destiny, Bobby Brown‘s Don’t Be Cruel , New Edition‘s Don’t Be Cruel and Iggy Pop‘s Instinct albums were released.
