Instead of me thinking of COVID vaccines,
Tonight I will dream of a time machine.

“Back To The Future” is still such a blast,
But please take me back to a time in the past.

I long for Nintendo, Footloose, and E.T.,
Please let me wake up in 1983.

I'm willing to settle for a couple years more
if it's 1989, 8, 7, 6, 5, or 4.

To witness that time at the old Silverdome,
Hulk Hogan and Andre brought all of it home.

Billie Jean, Sledgehammer, Raspberry Beret,
Run DMC and Aerosmith singing “Walk This Way”.

Gimme Ghostbusters, Batman, or Top Gun,
The guys and the Girls Just Want To Have Fun.

The Bangles, The Go-Go's, Belinda Carlisle,
All these flashbacks will take me awhile.

Bikes without helmets and phones that had cords,
Saturday morning cartoons, I'd never be bored.

My mom dropped us off to go to the mall.
Can your mom pick us up after a game of Skee-Ball?

At the Skill Mill Arcade with a handful of quarters,
If memories were real, I'd end up on Hoarders.

Galaga, Frogger, Tetris, and Pac-Man,
The Legend of Zelda, I was a huge fan.

Instead of the arcade, maybe the movies?
Ferris Bueller's Day Off? That flick is so groovy.

The Karate Kid, The Breakfast Club, Rocky III,
Seems like yesterday it happened to me.

I think of those weekends that we spent outside,
Ding Dong Ditch, Hide & Seek, we better go hide!

Three-wheelers, wine coolers, great neighborhood friends,
I wish that the '80's never had to end.

Fast Times at Ridgemont High, let's slow down a bit,
It's going too fast, how am I supposed to enjoy it?

My 16-year-old self couldn't wait for the future,
Now my 50-year-old self lives on the computer.

Watching old music video clips on my screen,
imagining that I am back there again.

Feeling that rush hearing for the first time
Slash's guitar solo in “Sweet Child O' Mine”.

Whitesnake and Van Halen toured the whole world,
Motley Crue sang about Girls, Girls, Girls.

“Well, my friends, the time has come...”
Lionel Richie calling to dance All Night Long.

To party, Beastie Boys said fight for your right,
DeBarge got us dancing to Rhythm Of The Night

Kool & the Gang had us feeling so “Fresh”,
like MJ's first moonwalk, oh that was the best.

Thriller, Bad, Dirty Diana, Billie Jean,
Peak Michael Jackson was an 80s machine.

What I wouldn't give for one more afternoon,
of watching my favorite 80s cartoons.

Transformers, Duck Tales, and GI Joe,
Go-Go Gadget, where did they go?

Let me go dig out my rotary phone,
Is Richard Dean Anderson sitting at home?

If only MacGyver could solve this time puzzle,
to let time again welcome me to the jungle.

Someday in the future I'll go to the past,
Back to the 80s, which all went too fast.

So name your price on that time machine,
and let me go back to when I was sixteen.
